Seems pretty simple right? Combining a mix of vintage specs, and modern mods we think you’ll agree that me hit the mark. Our 1970 “Chicago Special” Jazzmaster has a 7.25” radius, and a rift sawn maple neck. The magic really happens under the guard with the combination of a 250k volume pot and our Chicago Specials. Based on a set of 1961 Jazzmaster pickups, George Blanda helped us craft our set to have higher output in the neck position than the bridge. The bridge pickup is slightly overwound giving it a smooth and round presence, while the neck pickup is moderately overwound giving it a huge bottom end with with round highs. Both Alnico 5 pickups are potted in shellac to give them a wide and open dynamic range, and wound with 42 gauge enamel wire.

"Chicago Special" Jazzmaster® pickups

Custom set modeled after CME's favorite 1961 Jazzmater AlNiCo 5 magnets

42 gauge enamel wire for round highs

Potted in shellac for open wide range frequency response

BRIDGE: Slightly overwound for high end punch but still still smooth and round

NECK: Moderately overwound for huge bottom end but with clear, round highs

NOS (New Old Stock) is built without any relic or wear at all. For vintage-inspired instruments, it feels as if you went back in time and bought it new in the golden-era. Most are finished with nitrocellulose lacquer and in those instances you should expect the finish to age similarly to their vintage counterparts. However, some modern-era Custom Shop creations in NOS are finished in polyurethane, which is far more durable and will likely remain glossy and lustrous for decades to come with proper Seems pretty simple right? Combining a mix of vintage specs, and modern mods we think you’ll agree that we hit the mark. From 1959 to 1966, our “Chicago Special” Jazzmasters have a 7.25” radius, a slab rosewood fretboard, and a rift sawn maple neck. The magic really happens under the guard with the combination of a 250k volume pot and our Chicago Specials. Based on a set of 1961 Jazzmaster pickups, George Bland helped us craft our set to have higher output in the neck position than the bridge. It pays homage to Gibson’s legendary past as one of the world’s first manufacturers of electric guitar amplifiers. The Dual Falcon resurrects the Gibson amp icon and delivers vintage tone, reimagined in an upgraded 2 Channel rendering with valuable new features and all the original magic intact, and then some. Perfect tonal enhancements update the sound and feel, with a wider, more usable range on the sparse controls, while lush traditional spring Reverb adds dimension and broadens stylistic horizons. The original smooth-sounding Tremolo adds further vibe while selectable output power options expand the versatility with options of Full, Half, or Low power modes per channel. In addition, a buffered series Effects Loop opens up more processing options to complete the outfitting for performance applications. These updates allow the new Dual Falcon to soar even higher above the most prized vintage Gibson examples.

While inspired by the Gibson Falcon amps from the 1960s, this all-new design from renowned amp pioneer Randall Smith and the MESA/Boogie Design Team is handcrafted in Petaluma, California, and sets a new bar in low-power tone. The Dual Falcon 20 2x10 Combo stands apart from its predecessors due to the constructional upgrades and tonal improvements unearthed over Randall’s five decades of tube amp design experience and performance-pushing ideology that deliver nothing less than astonishing results. Players of all generations and musical genres will appreciate the Dual Falcon’s beyond-vintage tone, enhanced dynamics, and well-behaved low end while enjoying the added flexibility in stylistic control and the width that reverb adds to the soundscape. The three selectable power options allow fine-tuning of the clip threshold and volume level of each channel independently while the pair of 10” Jensen® Blackbird 40 Alnico speakers reproduce every ounce of this mojo perfectly, creating the ultimate vintage-voiced 2x10” Combo.

The Dual Falcon features two-channel flexibility with a focus on great tone and ease of use. The ultra-simple, pure signal path design of each channel has controls consisting of Volume, Tone, and footswitchable Reverb, plus footswitchable Tremolo with global Speed and Depth controls, which add dimensionality and motion and immensely increase the amp’s enjoyment and usefulness over a wide range of musical styles. Players in the know have long understood that one of the secrets to great overdriven tone is power amp overdrive, and lower-powered amps are key to turning up and achieving that cranked power amp sound without overwhelming volume levels. For those who demand touch sensitivity and dynamic nuance at the low to medium end of the gain spectrum and crave the classic “controlled implosion” at its farthest reaches, the cathodyne driver feeding a pair of 6L6 power tubes (or optional, smaller 6V6s with no mods) performs above and beyond expectations.

Sonically and physically, the Dual Falcon 20 2x10 Combo roams confidently between nest and venue, providing instant access to warm cleans and purring overdrive across the two footswitchable channels with simple pairs of Volume and Tone controls, all at perfect power levels everyone can appreciate and enjoy. Players can select between Full, Half, or Low (15, 6, or 2-Watts) power modes of patented Multi-Watt™, 6L6, Pure Class A Power, or 12, 5, or 1-Watt(s) with optional 6V6 Power Tubes, providing three levels of expressive, vintage Gibson tone and feel. This power flexibility enables even more ways to transition in and out of clip seamlessly and musically, making the Dual Falcon an ideal amp for club gigs, home practice, and recording purposes. With its modern refinements, high-end performance, and boutique construction, this bona fide bird can’t wait to elevate Gibson amplifiers to the stature they’ve always deserved, right alongside Gibson’s finest stringed instruments.

Features:

Built in Petaluma, California USA

Designed by Legendary Amp Designer, Randall Smith

Pure Class A Power

2-Channel Falcon 20 – Footswitch between two Falcon 20 Preamps!

Patented, Channel Assignable, Multi-WattTM and Duo-ClassTM Power, provides choice of Full (15-Watts), Half (6Watts) or Low (2-Watts) Power with stock 6L6 Power Tubes (12-Watts, 5-Watts or 1-Watt with optional 6V6 Power Tubes)

Foot-Switchable, All-Tube Reverb and Tremolo

Tube Driven, Series FX Loop

3 Button Footswitch (Channel 1/2, Reverb & Tremolo)

Available in a 2x10 Combo featuring 10” Jensen Blackbird Alnico Speakers

Please Note: The item displayed in the images may not be the actual item you receive.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0723/2713/5341/files/t8zqgw96hfs8_90a102b9-454a-451a-bbff-d50cc6df85a0.jpg?v=1784516543
gibson-falcon-20-12w-1x12-combo-amp-black-taurus-llqwd6
Gibson Falcon 20 12w 1x12 Combo Amp Black Taurus
This item is in excellent working condition and barely used.

Inspired by the iconic Gibson Falcon and Skylark amps from the 1950s and 1960s, the new Gibson Falcon combo amplifier options pay homage to Gibson’s legendary past as one of the world’s first manufacturers of electric guitar amplifiers. Born from Gibson’s late-’50s evolution of the Junior and Special, the double-cutaway design unlocked a new kind of access and attitude, but it was the 1960 refinement—the slimmer neck profile, the more balanced pickup placement, the stripped-down honesty—that turned it into something players never stopped chasing.

The Epiphone Inspired by Gibson 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut channels the spirit of a working musician’s instrument, built for stages, basements, and everything in between. At its core are a pair of raw, vocal, and slightly underwound P-90 pickups. The volume controls give you direct command over how hard you’re pushing the amp, allowing you to dial things back for a cleaner, more controlled tone or open everything up for the full, unrestrained character of a classic P-90. From clean, articulate tones to a gritty, driven breakup, the 1960 Les Paul Special is defined by its midrange focus and natural harmonic complexity. It responds quickly to touch and gain, offering a straightforward, expressive voice that sits right at the edge of saturation when pushed.

The slim taper neck profile keeps things fast and unencumbered, echoing the same design philosophy that made the original 1960 models feel like a quiet revolution in the hands of players who needed speed without sacrificing soul. Combined with the double-cutaway design, upper fret access feels effortless—like the guitar is getting out of its own way so you can stay in the moment longer.

What you get is the essence of the 1960 Les Paul Special distilled: two pickups, one slab of mahogany attitude, and a direct line to one of the most influential electric guitar designs ever made. Plug it in, turn it up, and it doesn’t just recall history—it feels like it never left.

Epiphone IGC 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut (CME Exclusive) Series

The Epiphone Inspired by Gibson series is exactly what it sounds like: a direct line back to some of the most important electric guitars ever made, but built for the way people actually play today.

These instruments take their cues from Gibson’s most iconic designs—Les Pauls, SGs, ES models—and focus on the details that matter in your hands: the feel of the neck, the weight of the body, the way the pickups respond when you dig in or pull back. Epiphone has really tightened the gap here, so you’re getting a level of build quality and authenticity that wasn’t really on the table at this price point a decade ago.

What stands out most is how familiar they feel right away. No learning curve, no “adjusting to the instrument” period—just a guitar that already knows the vocabulary. They’re built to be played, not parked in a case, and they hold up whether you’re tracking in a studio, playing gigs every weekend, or just chasing ideas at home.

At Chicago Music Exchange, we think of the Inspired by Gibson series as the modern working player’s way into a classic story—without losing the character that made those originals matter in the first place.

Highlights

CME Exclusive Finish

Gibson Custom Soap Bar P90 Made in USA

60s Slim Taper Neck Shape

Gibson Open Book Headstock

Inspired by Gibson Custom Lifton-Style Brown/Pink Hardshell Case

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0723/2713/5341/files/epiphone-electric-guitars-epiphone-inspired-by-gibson-custom-1960-les-paul-special-double-cut-reissue-olive-drab-w-gibson-custom-underwound-p-90-soapbars-epiphone-inspired-by-gibson-c.jpg?v=1784518459
